Grit Blasting
This procedure is used for the removal of stubborn coatings prior to new coatings being applied. We have over 30 years experience in blast cleaning newly erected oak frames.
We can also use wet blasting as a procedure used to suppress any dust. We have used the wet blast procedure for the removal of anti-foul on boat hulls and are well received within many local boatyards.
Grit Blasting Benefits
- Grit blasting eliminates the need for non-eco-friendly and hazardous chemicals.
- Grit blasting provides a high production rate, wide abrasive selection and an accurate blast pattern.
- The final surface obtained is absolutely free from chemical deposits, scales and dust. Grit blasting does not remove any virgin metal when removing scales.
- Grit blasting provides an optimal surface and facilitates the formation of a permanent bond between the protective coat (zinc, paint or epoxy) and the grit blasted surface.
- Shot blasting increases the longevity and durability of the protective surface coat as it will adhere better to the blasted surface.
Brickwork Cleaning
Sand blast brick cleaning can be carried out in several different ways depending on the type of brick and also what you are removing. If the brickwork is covered in any organic growth, such as moss, a water jetting process will normally suffice. If however the brickwork has a paint coating and the paint coating is failing (usually showing evidence of cracking and flaking), removing the paint completely can be tricky without specialist blasting.
If the coating is harder than the brickwork you will sometimes find that the brickwork will be eaten away before you are able to remove all the paint coating. If the brickwork is to be re-painted or rendered this is not always a problem but in order to leave a clean, natural looking brick after blasting we may need to carry out some sample blasting first.
Sand-blasting Painted Concrete
A lot of our work has been for concrete repair companies and we have carried out hundreds of contracts for work on council properties, particularly in the London area. This type of blasting work is done so that the paint coating is removed from the concrete allowing the concrete repair company to inspect and repair any damaged areas.
